1. What was a significant location on campus for you?  Why?

Jones Hall was the most important location for me as I was a Near Eastern Studies major.  The Woolworth Music Center was almost as important as I was (and am) keenly interested in classical music and played the piano.  Fortunately, the two locations were very close to each other.

2. What was a defining (or pivotal) moment of your life?

I had TWO pivotal moments at Princeton:  A.  Meeting my mentor at NES, Prof. Martin B. Dickson, and B.  Meeting my future husband.

  3. How did your personal identity shape your Princeton experience?

As an immigrant to the US, I was definitely not as fully aware or integrated into much that Princeton had to offer socially.

4. If you could relive your time at Princeton, what would you do differently?

If I could relive my time at Princeton, I would take fuller advantage of its academic resources.  I concentrated intensely, and perhaps too narrowly, on NES as I was intent on trying to master Persian, Arasbic and Hebrew, languages, literature, and history.

5. If you could relive your time at Princeton, what would you keep the same?

My love of my chosen field[s] (NES), which turned into an academic career, is still intense, so…I would probably make the same choices!

6. What part of your life are you most proud of?

I am the proud parent of two terrific sons (also Princeton grads…) and my ability to carve a career that enabled me to be a devoted parent.
